Yesterday, 11 tons of humanitarian aid left the Madrid warehouse for St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital in Koforidua.

To support the healthcare services provided by the hospital in Koforidua, Ghana, a new 20-foot, 11-ton Humanitarian Aid container was loaded yesterday at the Juan Ciudad ONGD warehouse in Madrid. It will travel by road to the port of Valencia and then by sea to Ghana.

This shipment includes materials requested by St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital for its work, consisting of hospital supplies (gauze, sheets, diapers, footwear, etc.), equipment (stretchers, treatment carts, oxygen equipment, orthopedic materials such as crutches and walkers, etc.), non-perishable food items, and hygiene and cleaning products.

The Hospitaller Order's healthcare activity in Koforidua dates back to 1960, with the launch of an orthopedic program and the registration of the hospital under the name St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital. Since then, the center has gradually increased its activity, and although the majority of patients who come to the center are for trauma and orthopedic problems, it has currently developed an important role in primary care, as well as maternity and child health.

Of the hospital's patients, 50% come from Koforidua, 45% from various villages in the region, and the remaining 51% come from other West African countries such as Ivory Coast and Togo, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Nigeria.

From Juan Ciudad ONGD we thank our members for their contributions, as they make these shipments possible, as well as the solidarity of other benefactors among whom are Brother Francisco Vallejos (Catalonia), the team of the JCONGD Delegation in Catalonia, the Albergue Sta.MÂȘ de la Paz (Madrid) and the following collaborating entities: H&M, FundaciĂłn Atabal, PRIM Suministros MĂ©dicos SA and Oximesa SL
