The Juan Ciudad ONGD (JCONGD) Humanitarian Aid Warehouse in Madrid has sent two containers totaling more than 25 tons of hospital supplies, equipment, and food, destined for the San Juan de Dios Health and Orthopedic Center in Douala, Cameroon, and the Padre Olallo Home in CamagĂŒey, Cuba.
Downtown Douala It has been operating for nearly two years, mainly with outpatient clinics, and at the moment the building that will house the physical rehabilitation services is being completed, so it needs equipment materials that will allow the start-up of new health services, sending in the container stretchers, an exercise bike, a refrigerated chest, an ultrasound machine, an operating room lamp, a respirator and a sterilizer, as well as office furniture such as tables and chairs.

The city of Douala, with nearly two million inhabitants, is growing rapidly due to the arrival of people migrating from rural areas in search of better opportunities. The Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God identified the need to open a center that would provide healthcare services specializing in rehabilitation and orthopedics, as the population lacked these services.
The Father Olallo Home of CamagĂŒey, however, has been operating for almost 25 years, providing social and healthcare care to the elderly in its day center and residence. However, due to the increased need for these types of services, the Hospital Order is expanding the building, so wheelchairs, rehabilitation equipment, and some of the furniture that will be necessary for its upcoming launch have been sent.

The delivery of these containers was made possible thanks to contributions from our partners, including the Heres Foundation, the Fabre Foundation, the SJD Health Park (Barcelona), the Barcelona Magic Line, the San Jose Institute Fund (Madrid), the SJD Hostel (Madrid), and the SJD Center (Ciempozuelos). Thank you very much!
In August, the Juan Ciudad NGO Humanitarian Aid warehouse was closed for vacation, but resumed operations in September, sending new containers to the hospitals and social and health centers of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God in Africa and Latin America.
