SJD Hospital in León is collaborating with a Juan Ciudad NGO project in Senegal.

The San Juan de Dios Hospital in León has donated 1,250 euros to Juan Ciudad NGO, which will be used for a project to improve the infrastructure of the Dalal Xel Mental Health Center in the town of Fatick, Senegal.

The money comes from the second prize won by the SJD Hospital in León in the 2nd edition of the "Optimistic Hospital" award, which places the hospital among the top five healthcare centers as a benchmark for humanized care.

For this reason, on May 20th, the manager of the SJD Hospital in León, Juan Francisco Seco, presented Brother José Mª Viadero, director of Juan Ciudad ONGD, with the check for the donation. This event was also attended by Adriana Castro, the organization's Communications Manager, who presented the NGO's work and the projects the hospital has supported over the past three years at centers of the Hospitaller Order in Liberia and Bolivia.

From our organization we would like to thank the entire hospital for its collaboration in the area of international cooperation, and its Social Work area, which works with the JCONGD Projects Department to be able to pay for this aid, as well as Mónica Redondo, Head of HR, for facilitating the arrangements for JCONGD's visit to León.

The Dalal Xel mental health center began operating in 2003 with monthly psychiatric consultations and currently serves nearly 5,000 patients annually, both in outpatient and inpatient settings, and through occupational therapy. It also offers an emergency service for the general population and conducts disease prevention and outreach activities in five surrounding towns.
