The NGO Coordinator condemns any abuse and violence against women.

Following the information that appeared in the newspapers   The Times and The Sunday Times Regarding abusive behavior by workers from four British humanitarian organizations, the Coordinator of Development Organizations – Spain:

It expresses its rejection and condemnation of any abuse and violence against women. It is also particularly serious that these acts occur in the context of a humanitarian crisis, a situation in which women—responsible, due to gender mandates, for caring for families—are in a position of particular vulnerability. It is also deeply concerning that this should occur within organizations that promote gender equality and defend human rights.

It expresses its complete and absolute solidarity with the women victims of these abuses. As development organizations, it is our obligation to listen to them and implement mechanisms for justice and reparation. Without respect for women's rights, there is no development.

Defend the work of humanitarian and development organizations. International cooperation or an NGO cannot and should not be judged by the actions of a few individuals. The Coordinating Committee's member organizations alone mobilize around 5,000 aid workers and 20,000 volunteers working in 105 countries around the world.
