The Iquitos Health Messengers team served the community of San Francisco in the Peruvian jungle.

This Saturday, March 19, a new Messengers of Health campaign was launched by the San Juan de Dios Clinic in Iquitos. A nine-person healthcare team traveled along the Marañón River, a tributary of the Amazon, to the community of San Francisco, where they treated people of all ages in various specialties.

The healthcare team organized a system to provide consultations throughout the day and general medicine, nursing, psychology, and pharmacy services to the San Francisco community, which lives isolated in the Amazon rainforest and lacks the healthcare resources to meet its needs.

This new Messengers of Health campaign has been supported by funds from Juan Ciudad NGOs, derived from the solidarity of its donors and supporters. These funds have been used to cover the travel expenses of the medical team, medicines, and hospital supplies used.

Juan Ciudad NGO regularly collaborates with the Messengers of Health campaigns, which are promoted in various centers of the Hospitaller Order in Peru to bring healthcare services to hard-to-reach areas and groups at risk of social exclusion.

In the campaign, which took place this past Saturday in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, the medical team consisted of nine people, including seven workers from the San Juan de Dios Clinic in Iquitos who are carrying out this action voluntarily, and two Brothers of San Juan de Dios, Américo Quispe and Isidro Våzquez, who are coordinating it.

The photos accompanying this news story were sent by Brother Isidro and show the valuable work carried out by the people behind Messengers of Health, which improves the health of populations lacking access to healthcare services and living in vulnerable situations.

Thank you for supporting us!
