The representative of Juan Ciudad NGO in Asturias, Judith Díaz Fernandez, who is a caregiver at the Day Center at the Sanatorio Marítimo in Gijón −dedicated to the care of people with intellectual disabilities−, organized an event on March 14 for the workers and families of the users, as part of the events held for the feast of San Juan de Dios, in which the work of Juan Ciudad NGO was presented.
Brother Eloy Castelo, superior of the Sanatorio Marítimo, was present at the event, along with the Brothers of the community there, staff members, and family members. The event also featured a presentation by Adriana Castro, communications manager for Juan Ciudad NGO, who unveiled the video "Sierra Leone: Journey to the Heart of Mabesseneh."
In addition, the center has hosted a two-week exhibition featuring photographs of the hospitals and healthcare centers of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God in Africa, with which Juan Ciudad NGO collaborates through its cooperation projects, volunteering, humanitarian aid, and awareness-raising.
