Throughout this week, San Juan de Dios Hospital is celebrating its Solidarity Week, dedicated to raising awareness among the hospital's staff and society at large about some of the challenges of international cooperation, as well as providing information on the work of the Hospitaller Order and Juan Ciudad NGOs in impoverished countries.
For this reason, last Tuesday, October 18, Brother JosĂ© MÂȘ Viadero, director of Juan Ciudad NGO, gave a presentation at the hospital entitled "Presence of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God in Peru, Sierra Leone and Liberia," where he also briefly explained the history of the institution.

JosĂ© MÂȘ Viadero explained his personal experience at the San Juan de Dios Clinic in Iquitos (Peru), where people with disabilities are treated and rehabilitated in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, after his stays there in the summers of 2015 and 2016. This clinic was able to be built thanks to a cooperation project managed by Juan Ciudad ONGD with public and private funds.
Viadero also focused on the current situation in Africa and the healthcare systems in Liberia and Sierra Leone, specifically at St. Joseph's Hospital in Monrovia and St. John of God Hospital in Lunsar, where measures are being implemented to prevent future epidemics, following the Ebola outbreak in 2014. Ebola has affected the capacities of African countries' healthcare systems and the solvency of their healthcare responses.

In addition to this activity, the SJD Hospital in Pamplona will hold a photography exhibition entitled "So Close, So Far: Portraits of Interculturality," as part of the Hospitaller Missionary Week, which, with World Mission Day as its horizon, seeks to bring us closer to the work of the Brothers of St. John of God around the world: Asia, America, and Africa. There will also be music, photography, presentations, and screenings until Sunday, October 23.
