We reinforce our commitment to transparency and accountability, disseminating our international development cooperation activity to improve health in impoverished countries. Through this Annual Report 2023.
For another year, we continue to lead the support to the San Juan de Dios centres in the poorest countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia, through coordination with representatives of their health centres and other organisations supporting San Juan de Dios in Europe. This has allowed us to improve the efficiency of our actions through the development of 36 projects, for a total amount of 1.3 million euros, from which almost 300,000 people have directly benefited. The profile of the projects we develop focuses on the promotion of Primary and Community Health in the populations surrounding our centres, Professional Health Training for our professionals and also through our Nursing Schools in Sierra Leone and Togo, and the provision of solar energy to health centres.
Development cooperation is also carried out through those people who, on a voluntary basis, participate in the exchange of experiences and knowledge, and who support with their time and effort the most needy people. In 2023, 16 volunteers participated, most of them health professionals, in 7 centres in 5 countries. We have also organised 6 medical-surgical missions with different entities in the health sector to care for the most vulnerable people in Senegal, Ghana, Liberia and Cameroon.
