Within the framework of the emergency project "Reconstruction of the infrastructure most affected by the phenomenon Child Coastal In Piura, Peru," funded by the Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation, Juan Ciudad NGO and the Sant Joan de Deu Teaching Campus organized a talk yesterday, March 6, for first-year nursing students at this university.

This talk highlighted the emergency and reconstruction efforts carried out within the framework of the project, which have allowed the San Juan de Dios Rest Home in Piura to strengthen its structures and prevent future disasters of this nature.

This activity featured the participation of Eva Lopez Torre, a professor at the San Rafael University Center for Health Sciences â Nebrija, who currently volunteers on a community health project with the San Juan de Dios Clinic in Iquitos. Eva explained to the nursing students how she works with community health workers.

With these two examples, Juan Ciudad NGOD sought to raise awareness among Campus Docent students about the realities of a country like Peru and the different forms of cooperation that exist, depending on whether the situation is an emergency or, on the contrary, an intervention that requires a development perspective.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of the "emergency-development continuum" concept: the need to link emergency aid with development cooperation so that their objectives complement and reinforce each other.
