Kerala Solidarity Week is currently being celebrated at the San Rafael-Nebrija University Center to support Juan Ciudad NGO's "Emergency in Kerala" campaign, with the participation of faculty and students.
This initiative aims to raise awareness among students and teachers about the disaster that occurred in the Indian state of Kerala this summer and to help raise funds for reconstruction efforts. The Kerala region was devastated by monsoon rains and floods, claiming the lives of more than a thousand people and displacing one million.

The University Center has scheduled various activities between November 19th and 23rd to assist with the humanitarian disaster. It hopes to generate a movement of solidarity involving students, faculty, and staff.
During the inauguration of Solidarity Week with Kerala, Gerardo DĂaz, director of the San Juan de Dios Foundation, wished to emphasize the commitment to Kerala: "The close contact with our brothers and sisters in India has strengthened our ties in an extraordinary way, and this means that we suffer alongside them when difficult situations arise."

In addition, JosĂ© MarĂa Viadero, from the NGO Juan Ciudad, reiterated their gratitude for this initiative, which represents a significant contribution to the "Emergency in Kerala" campaign. Through donations, they have raised more than 100,000 euros to help the Indian state rebuild affected areas and assist displaced families.
The program of events includes daily charity breakfasts and snacks, supported by the sisters from Kuttanad (Kerala), who study nursing at the center and are responsible for preparing traditional Indian sweets and making bracelets with local materials.

On Tuesday the 20th, an Indian dance performance was held by the Lola MartĂn student group, who introduced attendees to Indian culture through music and dance.
A conference on the "Emergency in Kerala" campaign was held at the AntĂłn MartĂn Forum on Wednesday, November 21. The event featured presentations by Ana Meyer, project coordinator for Juan Ciudad NGO, and Alejandro del Estal, a physiotherapy student who was volunteering at the San Juan de Dios Special Education School in Velloor, Kerala.
