The solar energy installation project at Saint John of God Nursing School in Lunsar, Sierra Leone, aims to ensure a stable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly electricity supply to improve the school's teaching and learning conditions. The initiative involves installing a photovoltaic system capable of meeting the energy needs of classrooms, offices, laboratories, the library, and residential areas, reducing reliance on an unreliable electrical grid and costly fossil fuel-powered generators.
This intervention aims to strengthen the quality of training for future nursing professionals, ensuring the continuity of academic and practical activities, especially during evening hours and frequent power outages. In addition to improving the learning environment and the safety of students and faculty, the project will contribute to reducing operating costs and emissions, promoting the long-term economic and environmental sustainability of the school and reinforcing its capacity to train qualified healthcare professionals to serve the communities of Sierra Leone.
