Nearly 40 people participated this weekend in the Juan Ciudad NGO International Volunteer training program.

The head of volunteering at Juan Ciudad NGO, Belén Jiménez, and the head of the Benito Menni Foundation, Mª Roza Izquierdo, jointly organized a training course on international volunteering this past weekend, February 13th and 14th, in Madrid. Nearly 40 people from all over Spain participated.

Volunteering is one of the pillars of the work of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God and the Sisters of Saint Benedict Menni, and at the international level, it is managed by their cooperative organizations: Juan Ciudad ONGD and the Benito Menni Foundation.

Among the main objectives of volunteering are contributing to health promotion by supporting the social and healthcare work of San Juan de Dios centers in impoverished countries, as well as promoting education and awareness for the development of our society.

During the two days of training, topics such as institutional values, motivation, awareness, counseling, safety, and psychological aspects were covered. There was also time for other volunteers to share their experiences, which is always very interesting and enriching.

In addition to Belén Jiménez and Mª Roza Izquierdo, Lydia Polo, Elisenda Aixala, Luis García, and Adriana Castro participated in this training meeting.
