The Brothers of St. John of God are caring for hundreds of people displaced by the war in the town of Drohobich (Ukraine), 70 kilometers from the border with Poland, where they have a community that has been providing social care to vulnerable people for 20 years. They have just sent us these photos, showing them distributing food and other basic necessities to people fleeing the conflict, who, as they tell us from there, are women and children, many of them unaccompanied.
Juan Ciudad NGO is keeping the "Emergency in Ukraine" campaign open to raise funds that will be used entirely to care for refugees. In addition to Drohobych, the Brothers are caring for them in eight other health and social centers, including St. John of God in Poland, where the influx continues unabated.
To date, the Brothers have welcomed more than 100 people into their centers in Poland, the majority of whom are children who have traveled alone. The centers also provide free medical care to anyone who requests it, and also distribute food, blankets, and medicine, among other essential items, to those who come seeking help.
We will continue to report.
