Charity market at the Santa Clotilde Hospital in Santander for Zambia

Actor Antonio Resines, Honorary Godfather of the 3rd Christmas Charity Market organized by Santa Clotilde Hospital, has collaborated in "building a bridge of solidarity" with Zambia, according to Brother José María Viadero, Director of the Juan Ciudad NGO Foundation, at the event held today at the center.

According to Viadero, "there is no charity without encounter," and for this reason, he expressed his gratitude, along with the HSC leaders, Managing Director Vicente FernĂĄndez Zurita and the Superior of the OH Brothers of St. John of God, JosĂ© Luis MartĂn, for "the great involvement of a true Cantabrian like Antonio."

For his part, Resines praised the initiative and once again demonstrated his sense of humor and closeness to patients.

In order to make the final sales, the 3rd Flea Market will be open until Saturday, December 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year, the funds raised will be used to support the drilling and construction of a new electric well and the reconstruction of the existing one at the Sagrada Familia Rehabilitation Center in Monze Community, Zambia, to supply drinking water to the center and its patients. On the previous two occasions, the funds were used to provide social and healthcare services for disadvantaged individuals at the San Juan de Dios Shelter in Madrid and to support a project to improve healthcare promotion and care in rural communities in the Chuquisaca Department, in southern Bolivia.

This week, the 3rd Christmas Charity Market sold various items donated by individuals, center staff, and volunteers, as well as items handcrafted by users of the Order of Saint John of God's centers for people with disabilities in GijĂłn, Valladolid, and Vigo, through occupational workshops.

Antonio Resines, whose latest work, "My Lost Love," is now in theaters, has spent over four decades in theater, film, and television, where he has garnered numerous awards and accolades and served as president of the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences. After becoming known to the general public in the early 1980s with "Opera prima," he has appeared in over sixty films across all genres, starring in or appearing in thirty television series, some of which have been hugely successful, such as "Los Serrano." He recently published his autobiography, "Pa' habernos matao: Memorias de un calvo," a book full of anecdotes. He currently collaborates on various television programs such as "La Resistencia" on Movistar+ and "Ese programa del que usted me habla" on TVE 2.

Antonio Resines was the third "Honorary Godfather" of the Santa Clotilde Hospital Christmas Charity Market, following the Rio 2016 Olympic high jump champion, Ruth Beitia, and the Santander artist Roberto Orallo.
